Qualifications
for Enrollment
- Be currently enrolled
in college credit course(s) at Red Rocks Community College.
- Be currently employed
in a job related to your area of study or career goals. Students who wish
to be assisted in seeking an appropriate placement are encouraged to contact
the Internship Technician for an appointment.
- Have a fundamental
knowledge (1 to 2 semesters of completed course work in the field of study)
and signed approval of instructor.

Students may work more hours than
required for assigned credits. However, no extra credit is given more hours
than required unless prior arrangements are made.

Summary of Forms:
Forms for student, instructor, and employer/supervisor to fill out.
- Application:
To be completed by the student and returned to the Internship Technician.
- Worker's
Compensation: If the student is participating in an
unpaid internship, they will need to read and complete the Worker's Compensation
form and return to the Internship Technician.
- Training
Agreement: The student needs to sign and obtain
the signatures from their instructor and supervisor. Once these signatures
have been obtained, the student will return the form to the Internship Technician
for his/her signature. The Internship Technician will make copies and forward
them to all parties.
- Learning
Objectives: The student will need to confer with
their instructor and supervisor and develop Learning Objectives for the
internship. Once these objectives have been made, the student will sign
the form and obtain the signatures from the instructor and supervisor. Once
these signatures have been obtained, the student will return the form to
the Internship Technician for his/her signature. The Internship Technician
will make copies and forward them to all parties.
- Employer
Locator Map: The student will complete this form
as directed and then give the form to the instructor for their reference.
- Weekly
Diary and Time Sheet: The student will
need to make many copies of this form. The student will complete and obtain
the proper signatures and forward to the Internship Technician on a weekly
basis.
- Final
Project or Final Report: In order to receive
a grade, the student will need to complete a Final Project or a Final Report.
The student should confer with eh instructor as to which will need to be
completed. If the student is to complete a Final Project, the instructor
will need to complete and sign the form and forward to the Internship Technician.
If the student is to complete a Final Report, a copy will be given to the
instructor and another copy given to the Internship Technician.
- Employer
Evaluation of Intern Performance: At the end
of the internship, the supervisor will complete this form and forward the
original to the instructor and a copy to the Internship Technician. (Return
envelopes are included for convenience.)
- Student
Evaluation of the Internship/Cooperative Education Program:
At the end of the internship, the student will complete this form and forward
to the internship Technician.
Timeline
The
Internship/Cooperative Education program is an “open” enrollment format. This
means that students can enroll at anytime during a semester and they can finish
their internship at anytime during the semester in which they enrolled or
the following semester. No matter what time of the semester a student entrolls
or completes their internship, there are xsome basic functions that need to
be completed at the beginning, middle and the end of the internship.
Beginning
of the Internship (within the first 2 weeks of enrollment)
Student
- Review Student Handbook
with Internship Technician
- Purchase Student Handbook
- Register and pay for
Internship
- Arrange a meeting
with the Internship Instructor
- Establish and finalize
Learning Objectives
- Turn inrequired documentation
(Application, Training Agreement, Employer Map, Learning Objectives, and
Workman’s Comp Form (if applicable))
- Start to turn Weekly
Time Sheets
Supervisor
and Instructor
- Assist Student with

- Sign Training Agreement
and Learning Objective Form
Middle
of the Internship
Student:
- Turn in Time Sheets
on a weekly basis to the Internship Technician and copies to the instructor.
Instructor:
- Visit student at the
internship location (Site Visit).
End
of the Internship (when required work hours are near completion)
Student
- Give Employer Evaluation
to supervisor for completion.
- Complete Student Evaluation
of Internship Program and turn in to Internship Technician.
- Meet with instructor
and start either the Final Project or Final Report.
Supervisor:
- Complete the Employer
Evaluation of student’s performance and submit to instructor.
